A lecturer of the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the International Medical Faculty at Osh State University, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Rakhim Baatyrov, participated in a short-term scientific visit to Kyushu University, Research Institute for Applied Mechanics (Fukuoka, Japan), within the framework of the international SATREPS project.
The visit was conducted under the scientific supervision of Professor Keiya Yumimoto, with the support of research assistants Hikari Sasaki and Shuichi Itabashi.
The main objective of the internship was to gain proficiency in the regional atmospheric chemistry model WRF-Chem and to develop practical skills in air pollution modeling. During the training, Rakhim Baatyrov, a member of the project working group and responsible for the modeling work package, studied the model architecture and carried out numerical simulations and visualization of results (including PM2.5, dust aerosols, and other pollutants) using Python-based tools.
This visit complements the systematic capacity building within the project: currently, OshSU Professor Abdykerim Rysbaevich Kurbanaliev is undergoing long-term training at Kyushu University, while Rakhim Baatyrov completed a short-term, practice-oriented internship.
The SATREPS project is implemented with the support of the Government of Japan and aims at a comprehensive assessment of air quality and its impact on public health.
