On September 10, 2026, the IRCAPS Air Pollution Research Laboratory was officially opened at the International Medical Faculty of Osh State University as part of the international SATREPS project.
The establishment of the laboratory strengthens the scientific and analytical capacity of Osh State University in the field of air pollution research.
The laboratory is equipped with modern analytical instruments that will support the analysis of air pollution samples and research into the chemical characteristics of pollutants.
The new laboratory will provide opportunities for researchers and specialists to conduct scientific studies, develop technical expertise, and strengthen local capacity in the fields of environmental and public health.
The opening ceremony brought together representatives of Osh State University, the Institute of Science Tokyo, JICA, JST, government institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic, and other project partners.
Together with the IRCAPS air quality monitoring station, the laboratory creates an integrated research infrastructure connecting field monitoring, laboratory analysis, scientific research, and evidence-based assessment of air pollution.
The establishment of the laboratory represents an important milestone in the development of IRCAPS as a research center dedicated to air pollution studies in southern Kyrgyzstan.
