(Kyrgyz-Japanese Friendship Foundation)
The Japanese Center successfully operates at the HSIEP, one of the missions of which is to develop and deepen cultural exchange between the peoples of the Kyrgyz Republic and Japan by providing information and holding cultural events. In order for students to have the opportunity to get acquainted with the culture of Japan, the center offers the following short-term courses: origami, calligraphy, ikebana, tea ceremony, and Japanese language and culture clubs are also active.
In addition, every year the center holds various festivals and cultural events in order to get even closer to the unusual culture of the Land of the Rising Sun.
The director of the center is research intern Mr. Tetsuya Asano.
The main goals of the center:
Ø improving mutual understanding and strengthening friendly ties between the Kyrgyz Republic and Japan;
Ø in-depth study of the Japanese language;
The center hosts the following events to improve mutual understanding and strengthen friendships.
Ø organization of short-term courses in Japanese arts and annual festivals;
Ø screening of famous Japanese films with subtitles in Russian;
Ø library, video library and DVD services.
Ø Japanese language courses: - basic courses (duration 3 months);
Ø preparation courses for passing the official Japanese language exam;
Ø introductory 2-month course for those interested in the Japanese language and Japanese culture.
In addition to Japanese language lessons, the center conducts the following activities to develop the Japanese language:
Ø individual support for teachers and students of the Japanese language;
Ø methods, training programs, etc.;
Ø methods, training programs, etc.;
Ø recitation competition, oratory competition, essay competition.
The study of Japanese at Osh State University was introduced in 1999. The need to study the unique and original culture and history of the Japanese people is growing every year among Kyrgyz youth.
Currently, 55 students are studying Japanese language and culture in the Department of Russian and Eurasian Integration. Every year, students of Japanese language groups and teachers participate in competitions, seminars (seminars for advanced training of teachers) conducted by the Embassy of Japan in Kyrgyzstan and the Japanese Center for Human Development.
We are now working closely with “Kyoto Minsai” language school in Kyoto City. About 20 students studied in Japan and there are currently 15 students.
The KJFF center provides logistical support in the form of a SMART TV, a projector monitor and a printer.
