Currently, the scientific direction of the department is on the topic "The prevalence and prognostic significance of obesity and
risk factors for non-communicable diseases in the structural and functional state of the cardiovascular system and cytokine status in the Kyrgyz Republic".
In 2023, in March, the Department of Internal Medicine 3
was renamed to "Internal Diseases with a family medicine course".

The Department of Internal Diseases with a family medicine course was established by Order of the Faculty of Medicine No. 86 dated August 22, 1996. From 1996 to 2021, the department was under the supervision of Professor Y.D. Dzholdubaev. Since 1997, educational and methodological works have been published:
131 manuals, 10 textbooks, 10 monographs and more than 350 articles.
From September 2021 to the present
, PhD, Associate Professor Rysmatova F.T. heads the department.
