On February 3, Osh State University inaugurated the “Central Asia Satellite Analysis and Remote Sensing Center.” The ceremony was attended by the university’s faculty headed by Rector Kudaiberdy Kozhobekov, as well as scientists from abroad and other regions of the country.
This facility is being opened for the first time in Kyrgyzstan as a satellite center. It is located within the university’s “Next Generation Hub.” The center collects data using satellites and conducts scientific research. It is currently equipped with modern specialized equipment. The center provides opportunities to work on international projects and attract investments. It also offers conditions for conducting scientific research.
The center is being established to train specialists in this field in Kyrgyzstan in the future. “Through this center, researchers, scientists, and PhD students conduct studies ranging from ordinary terrain to high mountainous areas. Working with the data database is essential for these studies. Using the center, scientists will be able to utilize satellite-derived data to conduct scientific research on climate change,” said Kudaiberdy Kozhobekov. Within the project, permission has been granted to access several international databases. Currently, cooperation is ongoing with more than 25 well-known satellite agencies from the USA, Japan, China, Korea, and European countries. The center also carries out scientific activities together with global centers.
