The history of the chair

In 1965, the chair of “Mathematics” was divided into the chair of “Higher mathematics” and “ The methods and elementary mathematics” . The head of the chair of “The higher mathematics” was T.A. Ajimudinov.

-From 1966-67y, D.S. Mustafin was the head of the chair of “The higher mathematics”. At that time their worked only 12 person, 4 of them were candidates of science- Ajimutdinov T.A., Mustafin D.S/, Abdyldaev M.U., Karimov S.K., 5 senior teachers- Mamaturdiev G, Tagirova R, Kalchaev I, Sergeev A, Kravchenko S., 3 teachers- Joldoshov B, Abduvaliev G, Vavilova L.

-From 1968-71y, M.U. Abdyldaev was the head of the chair of “The higher mathematics”

-In 1971 the chair of “The higher mathematics” was divided into two chair: ”The chair of algebra and geomenry” and “The mathematical analysis”.

- On the 18th of February,in1997 was opened the new chair ‘The higher mathematics and mathematical economy”.the head of the chair was docent, A.O. Abdubaliev.

In 2000-2002 y, docent T.O. Bekeshov worked as a head of the chair.

From September 2002y, docent A.M.Djuraev was the head of the chair.

The professor J.S. Satarov was the head of the chair in 2004-2013 y.

From 2013-2016y, docent M.Mamajusupov worked as a head of the chair.

In 2024, the Head of the Department of “Higher Mathematics and Innovative Technologies” is Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Sopuev Ulanbak Adakhimzhanovich.


Currently, the material and technical base of the department has been completely modernized, educational and methodological work is ongoing, and the necessary conditions are being created for the active work of the teaching staff.

The lecturers of the “Higher Mathematics” Department teach the discipline “Mathematics” at all faculties except the Faculties of Physics and Mathematics, Pedagogy, Business and Management. They also teach Mathematics and Professional Mathematics in 9th- and 11th-grade colleges established under the faculties. The department’s lecturers successfully conduct classes using critical thinking development methods such as “Cluster,” “Cinquain,” and “KWL (Know–Want to Know–Learned).” Elements of interactive teaching methods are used in delivering lectures and practical classes.

Current Mission

The department provides mathematics instruction for non-mathematical specialties such as medical, law, history, physics and technical faculties, taking into account the specific features of each specialty and in accordance with the State Educational Standard, with a professional orientation. The long-term goal is to prepare highly qualified specialists.

The department ensures the implementation of educational, research, methodological, and practical activities in mathematics at the university in accordance with educational standards. The main tasks of the department are:

  • Creating conditions to meet students’ needs in acquiring knowledge in mathematics;
  • Training theoretically competent and highly qualified specialists;
  • Developing new scientific foundations for organizing the educational process and introducing new teaching and learning technologies;
  • Ensuring high-quality organization and delivery of lectures, practical classes, and students’ independent work.

Structure and Leadership, Main Responsibilities

The management structure of the department and the distribution of scientific-methodological, cultural, educational, and social activities are organized as follows: the Head of the Department leads the overall activities; the head of the methodological seminar; the coordinator for educational work; the sector responsible for preparing students for Olympiads; the lecturer responsible for external relations; the research sector; the cultural and mass events sector; and the sports sector carry out their respective duties.

Educational Work

  • Using the teaching process of department disciplines for the active development of students;
  • Fostering consciousness, diligence, and independence among students;
  • Observing ethical and moral standards among department members and instilling these qualities in students;
  • Developing and strengthening a sense of patriotism among students;
  • Forming a sense of collectivism within student groups.
