In 2017, from the structure of the Department of Fundamental and Theoretical Disciplines of the faculty, the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines was created (July 6, 2017, protocol No. 8). On August 25, 2017, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Associate Professor Raykan Apzhaparovna Ismailova was appointed Acting Head of the Department, and since July 2018, based on the results of a competitive selection, she was elected Head of the Department. Associate Professor R. Ismailova made a significant contribution to the formation of the teaching staff, the development of the material and technical base, the organization of educational and upbringing processes, as well as the establishment of the department.

In the 2024–2025 academic year, the department was temporarily headed by Gulkayir Zholonovna Orunbaeva. Under her leadership, the activities of the department continued without interruption, and educational and upbringing processes were successfully carried out.

Currently, the department is headed by Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Semetei Manasovich Amiraliev. He is the author of a number of scientific works in the fields of linguoculturology, cognitive linguistics, and ethnolinguistics, and he actively participates in international projects and scientific research.

The Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines of the International Medical Faculty, in accordance with the mission of Osh State University, provides students with quality education, while forming their moral, cultural, and scientific values.

The team of the department not only provides students with quality education, but also contributes to their scientific-research, moral, and educational development. All activities of the department are carried out systematically and continuously on the basis of the plan approved by the Methodological Council of Osh State University.

Educational, upbringing and scientific activities

On the basis of the plan approved by the Methodological Council of Osh State University, the department continues its work in the 2025–2026 academic year. Currently, teachers of 4 sections (Kyrgyz language, Russian language, Latin language, and History) are working to improve the quality of knowledge of foreign students. Within the framework of the department’s scientific theme, teaching aids, articles, and scientific reports are being prepared and published in various scientific journals.

Teachers of the department, guided by the mission of Osh State University, educate students by instilling in them moral, cultural, and scientific values. Educational work is carried out on the basis of the concept of the educational work plan approved by the Rector of Osh State University. Special attention is paid to the development of personal and professional qualities of future medical specialists.

Under the guidance of the teaching staff of the department, students of the faculty actively participate in educational, scientific, social, and cultural events at the university and republican levels, and they achieve prize-winning places. Material and technical base

The material and technical base of the department includes 16 modern classrooms (2 language laboratories, 1 computer lab, 2 lecture halls), equipped with the necessary facilities.

International cooperation

The department maintains close cooperation with universities both near and far abroad, including: University of Malaya (Malaysia), Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (Bishkek), AzMI (Bishkek), Manas-Turkish University (Bishkek), International School of Medicine (Bishkek), and Jalal-Abad State University (Jalal-Abad).
