History of the Department

In July 2017, by the decision of the Academic Council of OshSU, the Department of Social-Humanitarian Disciplines was created with the division of the Department of Natural and Humanitarian Disciplines of the International Medical Faculty into two departments (July 6, 2017. No. 8 protocol). In August 2017, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences Ysmailova Raikan Apzhaparovna was appointed as the head of the Department. Since June 2018, Ysmailova Raikan Apzhaparovna was elected to the post on a competitive basis, leading the Department successfully.

Currently 59 teachers work at the Department: 8 doctors of sciences, 8 professors, 26 candidates of sciences, 25 associate professors, 7 associate professors, 18 teachers, 2 graduate students, 1 laboratory assistant, 1 head of the laboratory.

The disciplines of the social and humanitarian cycle are held at the Department: Kyrgyz language and literature, Russian language, Foreign language, Latin language and the basics of medical terminology, Philosophy, Geography of Kyrgyzstan, History of Medicine and Kyrgyzstan. Classes are held in the building of the International Medical Faculty.

The activities of the Department are carried out in various areas:

- teaching and methodological work;

- research and research work;

- educational work.

The main goal of the Department is to organize educational and methodological and research work in the field of social- humanitarian disciplines.

To achieve its goals the department works in the following areas:

- Quality lectures, seminars and other forms of training;

- Organization and management of students′ independent work;

- Monitoring students′ educational achievements;

- Organizing and conducting educational activities with students;

- To disseminate the experience of the best teachers, to help young teachers acquire pedagogical skills;

- Preparation of e-books, textbooks and other materials;

- Leading the research work of students;

- Improving the cultural and moral level and intellectual potential of teachers and students.

The theme of the scientific research work of the Department: "Challenges of global civilization: socio-humanitarian aspects."
